Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security feature on the My Rous smartphone apps and web portal. MFA adds an extra layer of protection to help keep your personal information safe.
What is MFA?
Think of MFA as a double-check when you log in. Instead of just entering your email and password, the system verifies your identity using an additional one-time 6-digit code sent by SMS to your mobile device or by email.
Log in steps
- Enter your email and password (as usual).

You will then be prompted to enter a unique 6-digit code. This code will be immediately sent to your registered mobile number via SMS.

If you don't receive the SMS code within two minutes, you can tap ‘Resend’ or choose the 'Verify using email instead' backup option to receive the code via your registered email address instead.
Please note: for security purposes, the code will expire 10-minutes after it has been sent to you, so please use it right away.
Sign up steps

During sign up, you will be prompted to enter your mobile number (make sure you enter it correctly, in the format ‘0412345678’).

After entering your number, tap Next to automatically receive your one time 6-digit verification code. Once you’ve entered the code, you can continue with the final steps to complete your sign up.

How do I update my mobile phone number?
To update your mobile number, navigate to the 'Me' screen from the main menu in the app or 'Edit profile' from the side menu. Please double-check that the number is correct to ensure you receive the MFA code required to log into your account. For assistance, contact our support team at support@myrous.zendesk.com
Can I remove the MFA step on log in?
No, you must use a 6-digit code to log into your account in addition to your email and password. This acts as an additional layer of protection for your personal information. An SMS 6-digit code will automatically be sent to your mobile phone number. If you do not receive the one-time code, you can select ‘Verify by email instead’ to receive your code by email.

Can I use FaceID or Passkey to log in instead?
These features are not currently supported, but may be considered for inclusion in future versions of the app.
